How do I calculate my exact age in Switzerland?
Enter your day of birth first, then the month and year — the DD.MM.YYYY sequence used throughout Switzerland — and the tool will immediately compare it against today's date (or any other date you choose) to give you a precise breakdown of your age, rather than a rough year count.
Which date order does this calculator follow?
The boxes are arranged day, month, year, matching the DD.MM.YYYY convention printed on Swiss ID cards, driving licences and official letters across the country's German-, French- and Italian-speaking regions alike. Mixing up the day and month is the most common way an online age calculation ends up wrong.
Can I calculate my age as of a date other than today?
Yes. The "Calculate age as of" field defaults to today, but you're free to set it to any other date. That's handy for working out how old you were on a particular occasion in the past, or how old you'll be when an AHV pension milestone, permit renewal, or exam date arrives.
| # | Step |
|---|---|
| 1 | Fill in your day, month and year of birth above. |
| 2 | Leave "Calculate age as of" on today, or pick a different date. |
| 3 | Your age in years, months and days appears in the result panel straight away. |
| 4 | Scroll to "Your time on Earth" for total days, weeks, months and hours lived. |
| 5 | Check "Birthday & star sign" for your star sign and next birthday countdown. |
What information does the calculator provide besides my age?
Alongside your precise age, the results include the day of the week you were born on, your star sign together with its usual date range, and a live countdown — with a visual progress ring — showing exactly how far you are through the run-up to your next birthday.
Is my date of birth transmitted or stored anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your date of birth is never transmitted to a server, logged, or saved anywhere — close the tab and there's no trace left behind.
Why might someone in Switzerland need to calculate their exact age?
- Checking eligibility for a Swiss driving licence or an AHV/AVS pension milestone.
- Filling in age or date-of-birth fields correctly on a passport, residence permit, or job application.
- Confirming a child's school starting age against cantonal enrolment rules.
- Finding out exactly how many days or hours you've been alive, purely out of curiosity.
- Planning ahead for a milestone birthday with the built-in countdown.
